I hope you and your loved ones are keeping safe and well.

Thank you for considering St Mark’s Community School for your child’s second level education. Applications for 1st year 2021/22 will be accepted from Tuesday 3rd November to Wednesday 25th November.

You may find it helpful to read our Admission Policy and Admission Notice before completing the Application Form The three documents are also accessible on the website.

If you have any questions about the school or about the admission process please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Some of the frequently asked questions about the admissions process:

Q. When can I apply for a place in St Mark’s Community School for my 6th class child?

A. This year applications will be accepted from Tuesday 3rd November to Wednesday 25th November.

Q. Where can I get the application form?

A. It can be downloaded here or from the school website If you prefer we can post or email it to you if you contact the school.

Q. How do I contact the school?

A. You can email Please include your number if you would like a call from one of the team or leave your question and we will get back to you as quickly as possible.

You can call the office at 01-4519399 between 10 and 11.30am any morning. Our team includes Ms Phil Carr, our Home School Community Liaison , and Ms Jean Gilmore, our School Completion Programme Coordinator who work with our parents. Phil and Jean will be delighted to support you personally with the admission process.

Q. Do I need to send any other documents with the application form?

A. Yes. You must enclose the original birth certificate of the child and proof of your address with the completed form. The birth certificate will be copied by the office staff and returned to you with the decision letter or sooner if you request it.

Q. How will I return the application to the school?

A. You may post it or you may hand it in to the school.

Applications will be accepted in person from November 3rd to November 25th at the following times:

Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays between 2.15 and 3.15 pm.

The school is not open to the public due to Covid-19 restrictions so regrettably you cannot call in outside of these times. When visiting you will be met at the entrance and are required to adhere to social distancing protocols.

Q. When will I know if my child is offered a place?

A. After the closing date for applications, November 25th, all applications will be reviewed and places will be offered as outlined in our Admission Policy.

You will receive a letter from the school by December 3rd. If your child is offered a place a form called Application Form - Part 2 will be enclosed.

Q. What do I do when my child is offered a place?

A. It is very important that you accept the place.

You do this by completing Application Form - Part 2 and returning it to the school by December 17th.

This will secure the place for your child.
