Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we start the new term I wish you all the strength, courage and resilience needed to get through these early months of 2021.
Learning from home: “Online Learning - Guidelines for Parents” will give you an insight into what to expect in our virtual school in the coming weeks.
Managing the weeks ahead:
Although we will not be able to “see” our students in the usual way be assured that the same care, the same kindness and the same expectations will be there in our virtual school – it is the same community!
Managing your son/daughter’s learning at home will not be easy. Do the best you can. Try to keep them connected to school through Google Classroom and help them to be positive about school.
Look after yourself too and lean on us - contact us if you feel we can help.
In addition to your son or daughter’s teachers, tutor, Year Head and myself the following supports are there for you:
Guidance Councillors- Ms Lenihan, Ms Klyaritskaya and Ms Harrington
Home School Liaison- Ms Phil Carr
School Completion Coordinator – Ms Jean Gilmore
Additional Education Needs Coordinator- Ms Catherine Mc Namara
Chaplain- We are delighted that Fr Martin has agreed to leave retirement for a while to support students and families.
Deputy Principals –Mr Dempsey and Ms Christian
At the moment it is best to contact the school by email office@stmarkscs.ie or by calling the office 01 4519399. Please do not leave messages on the phone because Year Heads and other staff are not in their offices to check voice mail.
6th years: It is a challenging time for your son or daughter in 6th year but you know that we are all here to help. Ms Noone is preparing a Question and Answer document. It will be live on their Google Classroom. This will keep you up to date with decisions from the Department of Education and the State Examinations Commission about orals, projects, practical examinations etc and the Leaving Certificate Examination.
Although our teachers and SNAs have done a great deal of preparation in their own work and with students we embrace a relatively new way of working. Sometimes things will not go exactly to plan so we ask for your patience… and your feedback – that’s how we improve!
Working together we will get through this.
Please keep safe and well.
My best wishes
Eithne Coyne
Principal
