At St Mark’s Community School we place great value on student leadership and the importance of peer support. This is reflected in the role of our Cinnerí. The term Cinnerí, meaning 'leaders' in Irish, refers to senior students who take on a supportive, guiding presence within the school. Carefully selected for their leadership qualities, these students act as mentors and role models for our 1st Years as they make the transition to secondary school life.
Each 1st Year class is assigned a Cinnerí who serves as a point of contact throughout the year. Their role is to support younger students as they settle in, helping them to navigate their new environment and offering guidance, encouragement and a friendly listening ear.
Cinnerí help to ensure that every new student feels welcome, included and supported from the very beginning of their time at St Mark’s. Their presence helps foster a caring, student-centred atmosphere in which 1st Years know they always have someone to turn to with questions, concerns or simply for a chat.
Our Cinnerí are exemplary members of the school community and play an important role in promoting a positive and inclusive culture across the school.
