At St Mark’s Community School, the Interfaith Team plays a vital role in fostering respect, understanding, and celebration of all faiths and cultures within our school community. Guided by Ms. Redmond (Chaplain) and Ms. Morrin, this student-led group works throughout the year to honour a wide range of religious traditions, festivals, and customs, creating a more inclusive and welcoming environment for everyone.
The team organises thoughtful and creative events that reflect the diversity of our school. Some of their recent initiatives include:
-
Smiles Day to kick off October with positivity and kindness
-
A Halloween Mask Competition
-
A Christmas countdown calendar, with a daily reflection or act of kindness
-
Celebrations and displays for St Brigid’s Day, St Valentine’s Day and Chinese New Year
-
Observances of Lent, Ash Wednesday, and Easter
-
Awareness-raising and celebration around Ramadan
-
Plans to explore Holi and Eid in future activities
The Interfaith Team not only celebrates key moments in the calendar but also helps spark important conversations about shared values, empathy, and community. Their work helps us to recognise and appreciate the many backgrounds and beliefs that make up our school.
